The #WomensMarch on Washington is a women-led movement bringing together people of all genders, ages, races, cultures, political affiliations and backgrounds on January 21, 2017 to affirm our shared humanity and pronounce our bold message of resistance and self-determination. The march in Washington, DC starts at 9 am, which is 4 pm here in Amman.
This will be a sister solidarity meetup, a symbolic event to discuss how we can work together to support the march’s values. It will be followed with a more organized event later. Some of us are far from what’s going on in our home countries, but we can still take a stand against injustice. This is an opportunity to meet your fellow activists, engage, share, and stand in solidarity with women worldwide. Please wear somthing red so we recognize each other. ALL ARE WELCOME! Please share and see you there!
#WHYWEMARCH
We are empowered by the legions of revolutionary leaders who paved the way for us to march, and acknowledge those around the globe who fight for our freedoms. We honor these women and so many more.
Recognizing that women have intersecting identities and are therefore impacted by a multitude of social justice and human rights issues, our liberation is bound in each other’s. We welcome vibrant collaboration and honor the legacy of the movements before us – the suffragists and abolitionists, the Civil Rights Movement, the feminist movement, the American Indian Movement, Occupy Wall Street, Marriage Equality, Black Lives Matter, and more.
Please keep me updated on your events. Just arrived!
