OVERVIEW
Of special interest in the treatment of Eating Disorders is the multidisciplinary approach in the clinical care of individuals with EDs and the significant role nutrition care plays in the prevention of EDs and related complications: Psychology & Nutrition. Dietitians working with ED patients need a good understanding of professional boundaries, nutrition intervention, and the psychodynamics of EDs. A dietitian may be the first to recognize an individual’s ED symptoms or be the first health care professional consulted by a patient for this condition. Key nutrition therapies require expertise in nutritional requirements for the life stage of the affected individual, nutritional rehabilitation treatments, and modalities to restore normal eating patterns.
