Full Moon Desert Marathon 2017
May 12 – May 13, 2017
There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls (George Calin). Come howl at the moon as you run wild in Wadi Rum’s most unforgettable adventure marathon and fun run.
Now the boring details:
When: May 12, you have to be in Wadi Rum no later than noon to acclimate, and attend the safety briefing.
Where: exact location in Wadi Rum will be revealed later. We don’t want that sensitive information to fall into the wrong hands
How much: 50 Jd’s for just the run, 25 Jd’s for just the walk
Does that include food or accommodation: look-up the meaning of the word “just” and apply it to the sentence “just the run” and “just the walk”
What’s included in “Just the Run”: The usual stuff you get when you run a marathon: blisters, muscle pain, runner’s high, chafed nipples, you’re friends’ adoration, run bib, a reflective vest, a medal if you complete, water on trail and at the finish line, and a t-shirt for those who register and pay before April 12.
What’s incuded in “Just the Walk”: An escorted 5k hike and a chance to say the following phrase to your friends; “I’m going to the Full Moon Desert Marathon”
How long: Run 10k, 21k, 42k. Walk 5k. All witihin a margin of error of +/- 4km but rest assured we won’t charge more for the extra kilometers
Will I starve: food options will be announced later
Will I be eaten by the wolves: wolves, no; werewolves, maybe since it’s the full moon.
Where will I sleep: accommodation options will be announced later. Priortity for using the limited tent space will be given to those who register first. Glamping and self camping options will be available as well
Who will I sleep with: what happens in Wadi Rum, stays in Wadi Rum
How will I get there: you will be strapped to a camel’s back. No, seriously, we will announce transportation options later
Why: because you have just enough crazy in you to consider this
Who is the organizer: does this look organized to you? This event is managed by a rag-tag team of volunteers and professionals collectively known as the “mismanangment committee”
Will this make me more popular: no, but it will certainly make your friends jealous
