يروي الفيلم قصة امرأة إيطالية تترك عملها لمساعدة ست فتيات شوارع من كينيا عن طريق مشروع خياطة في محاولة لتحويلهن إلى مصممات أزياء. في البيئة الهادئة لـ “بيت أنيتا”، وهو مشروع مجتمعي لتأهيل فتيات الشوارع والأطفال يقع في جبال نغونغ، والأنشطة الملونة والمبتكرة من “مجموعة GtoG ” والصراعات اليومية، هناك دائماً إرادة ووعي أن تلك الفتيات بوسعهن أن يأملن ويسعين لمستقبل أفضل… إنها قصة تحكي قدرة التعاون والتعاطف الأنثوي والإيثار على بناء مستقبل من فراغ. حصل الفيلم على جوائز أفضل فيلم وثائقي وأفضل إخراج وأفضل قصة وجائزة الجمهور في مهرجان السينما المستقلة للمرأة في لوس أنجلوس. كما حاز جوائز في مهرجانات سينمائية أخرى مثل: مهرجان دورانجو للأفلام المستقلة ومهرجان أصوات النساء + الأفلام السينمائي في دنفر ومهرجان أنابوليس السينمائي ومهرجان شجرة الحياة السينمائي في لوفلاند ومهرجان البيئة السينمائي الدولي ومهرجان CEBU للأفلام الوثائقية الدولي ومهرجان كريستد بيوت السينمائي ومهرجان يوم الأمم المتحدة السينمائي في باسيدينا ومهرجان الأدب المؤنث (Scrittrici Insieme) في فاريس ومهرجان جاكارتا للثقافة والصحة، حيث حصد الفيلم جائزة الامتياز وجائزة لجنة التحكيم الخاصة
“Get Together Girls” is the story of an Italian woman, who quits her job to help six Kenyan former street girls with a tailoring project that has transformed them into fashion designers. Among the peaceful environment of “Anita’s Home”, a community project for the rehabilitation of street girls and children set in the mountains of Ngong, the colorful and creative activities of “GtoG Collection” and the daily struggles, there is always the will and awareness that they can hope and aim for a better future. A story of how cooperation, feminine empathy and altruism can build a future out of the void. The film was awarded at the Women’s Independent Film Festival of Los Angeles for Best Documentary, Best Directing, Best Story and Audience Award. It has also received awards at other festivals such as: Durango Independent Film Festival, Women + Film Voices Film Festival of Denver, Annapolis Film Festival, Lifetree Film Festival of Loveland, International Film Festival for Environment Scrittrici Insieme (Feminine Literature Festival) of Varese, CEBU International Documentary Film Festival, Crested Butte Film Festival, UN Day Film Festival of Pasadena and Health and Culture of Jakarta, where it received the Excellence Award and Special Jury Award.
