SHAMS EL BALAD presents:
Habibi Funk & DJ SOTUSURA on 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟯𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆

Habibi Funk (aka Jannis Jakarta Stürtz) will be taking us back to the funk and diversity of Arab music in the 60s, 70s and 80s. From Sudanese jazz-funk and Tunisian disco bands, to Arabic Zouk, Algerian coladera and Lebanese groove, all from his extensive record collection and joined by Cairo based DJ SOTUSURA playing his soul-fuelled sets of Arabic Mashups.

Habibi Funk (BE)

Habibi Funk is a Berlin-based record company operated by Jannis Stürtz. He has devoted years to researching sounds from across the Arab world, such as the old Algerian coladera, the Lebanese groove, the Egyptian disco, the Moroccan funk, etc.
Habibi Funk has re-introduced names such as Ahmed Malek, Al Masrieen, Fadoul, Daltan from the live music background of Central Asia and North Africa by working on various mixes and re-publishing their works thanks to its rare collection of vinyls focused on the Arab music world.

SOTUSURA (CA)

Cairo based DJ and producer Hicham Ibrahim AKA DJ SOTUSURA has been a turntable and vinyl enthusiast since the early 2000s, and a full time international DJ since 2010. He has lived around the Middle East, gaining recognition with his sets and radio shows.
Enjoy his new album “Saleh El Alhan” made up of 16 instrumental hip hop tracks, sampling Arabic music with old school hip hop beats and paying homage to some of the most iconic singers and music producers from the Middle East.
