لا تزال عظمة أليشيا ألونسو تشع في عالم الباليه إلى يومنا هذا. نجمة متألقة أسرت الجمهور حول العالم. لحد الآن وهي في التسعين من العمر، تواصل ألونسو تشجيع أحلام الراقصين والراقصات الشباب ممن يسعون للسير على خطاها. بتتبع مسيرة راقصتين من فرقة الباليه الوطنية في كوبا – أماندا الراقصة الشابة الطموحة، وفينغساي إحدى أشهر الراقصات في كوبا – يعيد فيلم “آفاق” النظر في مصير أليشيا وهي الآن في غيهب عمرها. بين تطلعات أماندا ومثابرة فينغساي الدؤوبة، تظهر شخصية ألونسو للعيان تدريجياً: مظهرها الهشّ الذي سرعان ما تطغى عليه عقليتها وعاطفتها اليافعة. نسمع صدى انجازات راقصة الباليه الأولى في خطوات رفاقها الأصغر سناً، مما يدفعهم إلى تصور الآفاق التي بوسعهم الوصول إليها يوماً ما

Alicia Alonso’s splendor still radiates throughout the world of ballet today. Even now at the age of ninety, the legendary lady with a steel character continues to encourage the dreams of young dancers who seek to follow her footsteps.
By following the career of two dancers of the National Cuban Ballet – Amanda, a young and aspiring ballet dancer, and Viengsay, one of the most celebrated dancers in Cuba – Horizons revisits the extraordinary destiny of Alonso, who is now in the twilight of her life.
Between Amanda’s aspirations and Viengsay’s relentless perseverance, the character of Alicia Alonso gradually comes to light: her fragile appearance being rapidly overshadowed by her youthful mindset and passion. The “absolute” first ballerina’s achievements resonate in the dance steps of her younger compatriots, enabling them to envisage the horizons they themselves can one day strive for
