الأطفال خبراء في خلق الأشياء من العدم: حشوة من الورق تتحول إلى كرة قدم وحشرتان اثنتان تمثلان حديقة للحيوانات.
“جن الزعتري” فيلم حميمي مميز يروي صمود الأطفال. وسط الصحراء الأردنية، أقيمت بضع خيام لمئات من اللاجئين السوريين. سرعان ما نشأ مخيم الزعتري: “بلدة” جديدة تنتشر فيها الأكواخ والكرافانات بشكل ارتجالي حيث أكثر من نصف سكانها من الأطفال.

في عيون أربعة أطفال، يتسنى لنا أن نرى ونشعر كيف للمرء أن يكبر في مثل هذا المكان في ظل شح الموارد والإمكانيات ولكن بوجود كمَ هائل من الأحلام. قد يكون الزعتري مكانا دون تاريخ أو مستقبل، ولكنه بمثابة بيت لهؤلاء الأطفال.

فاز الفيلم في المسابقة الهولندية لمهرجان أمستردام الدولي للأفلام الوثائقية ومسابقة الوقوف في مهرجان كليفلاند السينمائي الدولي ومسابقة حقوق الإنسان في مهرجان تيسالونيكي للأفلام الوثائقية ومسابقة الأفلام الوثائقية الجديدة في مهرجان “فل فرايم” للأفلام الوثائقية. كما شارك في منتدى فريبورغ السينمائي ومهرجان تشاغرين للأفلام الوثائقية.

Children are experts at creating something out of nothing. A wad of paper becomes a soccer ball, two insects a zoo.

“Zaatari Djinn” is an exceptionally intimate portrait of the resilience of children. In the middle of the Jordanian desert, tents were set up for hundreds of refugees. Then, quick as lightning, arose Zaatari, a new “city” with improvised shacks and caravans where over half the population are children.

Through the eyes of four children, we get to see and feel what it is like to grow up in Zaatari, with very little resources or prospects, but with the capacity to dream. It may be a place without a history or a future, but for the children it is a home.

The film has reaped awards at the Dutch Competition at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, the Standing Up Competition at Cleveland International Film Festival, the Human Rights Competition at Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival and the NEW DOCS Competition at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. It also featured at the Freiburg Film Forum and Chagrin Documentary Film Festival.
