A gripping portrait of the renowned photographer, Sebastião Salgado, who travelled the world documenting the fate of people in a variety of countries. Having witnessed international conflicts, starvation and exodus, Salgado became burnt out, and decided to embark on a journey to discover pristine landscapes of wild flora and fauna. The stunning photography project he subsequently created is a tribute to the beauty of our planet.
This feature-length documentary won several prestigious international awards, including: the Special Prize at Un Certain Regard section at the 2014 Festival de Cannes – Page Officielle, the César Award for Best Documentary at the 40th César Awards, the Audience Choice Award at Abu Dhabi Film Festival in 2014 and the Audience Award at San Sebastian International Film Festival in 2015. It was nominated for the Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Documentary at the 87th Academy Awards.
