Hiking the highest peak in Petra.

Our ultimate hiking experience begins with a very interesting visit to Little Petra where we will learn more about the silk road camel caravans station and the Nabatians market, Then we will get ourselves ready to hit the back way trail of Petra city, walking by the cliff and right handed with a wide breathtaking views of Al Sharah mountains to reach the Monetary (Al-Dair), the shooting location for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for a 2000 years old cave break and a wide selection of refreshments and snacks .

Instead of claiming the long stairs up, we will only take them down to continue the hike to the peak of Jabal Haroun – Aaron’s Mountain (4580 feet – 1350 meter) where the perfect spot to muse a magical sunset views with herbs tea on fire ( Bedwin Whisky ). Then we will get to the campsite for overnight and very testy traditional dinner.

Jabal Haroun is the holiest site in Petra and one of the holiest in Jordan, venerated by Muslims as the resting place of Prophet Haroun, as well as by Christians and Jews, Religious buildings have stood upon the peak since at least as early as the Byzantine era.
Rosalyn Maqsood, in her excellent book on Petra, explained the power of Jabal Haroun well:
Believers in the “numinous universe” accept that certain localities can be impregnated with the life-giving force of some saint or hero – transforming the sites into powerhouses of spiritual blessing. Traces of their essential virtue would cling to their mortal leavings even though their spirits had passed to another and better world. Holiness was seen as a kind of invisible substance, which clung to whatever it touched. So the virtues (the Latin word virtue means “power”) of saints would remain and be continually renewed and built up by the constant stream of prayer and devotion emanating from the pilgrims who found their way there. These places are visited to gain healing, or fertility, or protection against dangers psychic and physical, or to gain whatever is the desire of the heart. Jabal Haroun is such a place…

An incredible day full of adventure, hiking and excitement will be expected. With 15km hike and sightseeing in the red-rose city of Petra to see Qasir Al Bent, The Royal Tombs, The Temple complex, The Theater, The Great Temple and climb up Jabal Khubthah where we can see a breathtaking view of the treasury (Al-Khaznsa) from the top, and then back to the main gate (visitors center) thru the shady canyon (Al Siq).

Hiking Safety and Responsibility, Regulations and Guidelines:
1- Safety is our top priority! Each participant (not just the leader) should arrive fully prepared.
2- If you must cancel, give the leader the courtesy of a call or email 2 days before July 21 ,2017 ( Free Of Charge ), For any reason you cancel your booking 2 days or less than July 21, 2017 you will be charged 50% of the total price.
3- Without exception, no participant should leave the group to return to the trail-head without the knowledge of the leader. She/he should be accompanied by another hiker. No one should hike alone.
4- It is the personal responsibility of each participant to ensure that they are physically fit enough for the field conditions that exist and any unexpected conditions that may occur and be able to keep up with their group.
5- In case if any of the hikers decided to end his/her tour during the hike, there will be no refund of any kind and he/she will be charged for all the costs of transfer to Amman.
